Matariki 2025
The Matariki Glow Show told the gorgeous story of te kāhui whetū o Matariki (the star cluster/whānau of Matariki) as they gathered to light up the skies for te tau hou Māori (Māori New Year). But where was the smallest star, Waipuna-a-rangi? Could she have been lost in the moana?
The show brought this mythical tale to life with its unique puppets, which glowed under UV lights in a black box theatre and intrigued tamariki wherever they went.
Delightfully bilingual, the Matariki Glow Show educated as it entertained, with its cutting-edge concept, upbeat original soundtrack, and themes of whakawhanaungatanga, friendship, and togetherness. It offered a truly memorable experience with positive and uplifting messages for tamariki.
The Matariki Glow Show toured in May, June, and July 2025 in a live performance series from Sarah Burren, who created the concept in 2017 and had toured Aotearoa with it since.
